At the April 2009 Public Meeting, the Sunshine Coast Board of Education made a decision to examine the problem of declining enrollment in elementary schools located in the Sechelt area, emphasizing community consultation. H1N1 Clinic Update - November 13, 2009

Effective immediately, H1N1 Clinics are open to all school-aged children ages 5 to 18 years. Clinics times
have been expanded after school and into the early evening.

The early years of a child's life are critical for setting the stage for success in later life. Parents of children under five can attend a new SPARK! class every Fall, Winter and Spring until their child enters Kindergarten. Classes are FREE and focus on the latest
research and ways that parents can support their child is learning at home.

Classes are held in a variety of locations and at a variety of times. Early registration is essential to allow time for materials to arrive.

Budget and funding concerns
The Sunshine Coast Board of Education submitted its 2009–10 budget, based on predicted enrolment for next school year, to the Ministry of Education last week. Following this submission, based on a public board motion from June 16, the Board also sent a letter to the Minister of Education, Dr. Margaret MacDiarmid, outlining concerns about the provincial funding of education.

Strong Start
StrongStart Centres provide free drop-in programs for children 5 and under to attend with their caregiver. At each centre, a Licensed Childcare Provider will facilitate activities for parents and children to engage in together. You and your child can explore, play and learn in an environment that is friendly and inspiring! All programs are free of charge and a light lunch will be served daily!
