The Program
This entry level trades training (Level 1) prepares students for apprenticeship in the building trade. Students learn the basics of carpentry, and successful students will be prepared to write the Carpentry Level 1 exam. The program combines theory with lots of hands-on learning. Much of the learning takes places outdoors on a business site-rain or shine! The program runs Monday through Thursday from 8:30—2:30 p.m. and is situated in Wilson Creek, at the Habitat for Humanity work site.

Release of Information forms: from SD 46 to VIU and VIU to SD 46
Interview may be required
Students must sign an agreement they understand VIU’s policy on grading and that they will adhere to VIU’s policies on attendance and student conduct.
Notes on Admission
Physically fit and able to adapt to varied working conditions
Good hand/eye coordination
Good health, free of vision, hearing or respiratory ailments
Fees
Students are required to pay a $375.00 registration fee
Program tuition and textbooks are covered by School District #46
Students are responsible for the purchase of their own work gear (i.e. tool belt, rain gear, steel toed boots, etc.)
