Student Application/Selection Process


A maximum of 16 students will be accepted into the Carpenter Program.  Even if you meet or exceed the minimum admission requirements, you are not guaranteed admission to the program.

Steps in the Application/Selection Process

1) Complete application form
        The application form accompanies this package.

2) Submit your high school transcripts
        Copy of PR Card and Recent Report Card

3) Submit your personal profile
        This letter (1 to 3 pages) should show your personal interest in the Carpenter / Framer Technician Program and the residential construction field in general.  Please include the following information and answer the following questions:
        *       Your name and contact information
*       Your work experience (paid or unpaid)
*       Have you been employed in the construction field?  If so give a brief description of the type of work performed.
*       Do you have any informal carpentry training working with family or friends?  If so, give a brief description of what you were involved in and what you learned.
*       Why do you want to take the Carpentry/Framer Technician’s course?
*       What are your career goals?
*       Where do you plan to work? What part of the region or country?
*       How much time each day can you commit to this program?
*       Do you have any related formal training such as high school courses?  Comment on what you have done and what you learned.
*       Please comment on anything else you feel would demonstrate your interest in and suitability for the program.
