PAC Parents' Note
The Davis Bay PAC wishes to invite all parents to the next  PAC Meeting - May 17th at 7:00 in the library at DBE.  Babysitting will be provided. The PAC is a great way to become involved at Davis Bay.  Should you wish to help out, but cannot attend the meetings, please give your name at the office, and we will contact you.

We are looking for a parent willing to create yearbooks for the kids this year. The kids really seem to enjoy the memories from their year's activities. A volunteer would be greatly appreciated.

Throughout the year there may be activities where there is a cost borne by the parents. The PAC does not wish to create any financial difficulty for any parents at DBE, nor would we want any child left out. The PAC may be able to help with the financial cost for such activities.  Please contact me:  elaine.lacasse@gmail. com  should your family require this consideration.

Here's to looking forward to a great year at Davis Bay!
Thank you,
Elaine Lacasse
for the Davis Bay PAC.

Minutes of the Davis Bay PAC
Meeting Dec 8, 2011

Callto Order             7:05pm

Inattendance: Marilyn Chung, Sally Thicke, Mike Matthewson, Dean Mural, MichelleThompson, Elaine Lacasse

Adoptionof the Agenda

Agenda amended to move the Fundraiser’s Report after adoption of the agenda to allowfor Mike’s required early departure.

Motion:To adopt the agenda as amended. (passed)

Fundraiser’sReport: The Meat fundraiser was successful, with 43 boxes sold. A discrepancy was pointed out that some of the prices noted on the spreadsheet were last year’s prices, therefore giving us a slightly lower margin of profit. We can still expect to raise more than $400.

Thankyou to Dana and Mike for their efforts in this endeavour.

Adoptionof the Minutes

Motion:To adopt the minutes of the PAC meeting November 10, 2011. (passed)

Principal’sReport: (see attached)

Oneitem to add is Mr. Greg Kitchen has now been appointed as assistant superintendent for SD46. He has previously worked in administration at the school level in BC’s interior.

Treasurer’sReport: We will pay an outstanding amount of $42 to Ms. SylviaBisbee for taking her class swimming last June. She had put the amount on her credit card at the time. We are paying this amount based on a note receivedfrom the school, as there does not appear to be a receipt for this item. $1716will be paid to the butcher in Sechelt for the meat fundraiser. $900 total will be transferred to a trust account for Davis Bay School in order to facilitate expenditures. This amount represents the money we have budgeted for the classroom allotments.

NewBusiness:

CarollingNight – As we will not be able to have a Christmas concert this year, we willhave a PAC organized Carolling Night instead. To be held Wed, Dec. 14,6:30-7:30pm. Elaine will organize the printing of sheet music and ordering hot chocolate and coffee/tea. Baked goodies will be provided by donation.

Yearbooks– Jostens can provide us with soft cover yearbooks through an online program.Unofficial quotes were $12.30/book for 40 books, or $10.99/book for 50 books. The totals are between $494 and $550. Given that we had budgeted $500 foryearbooks, we can off-set the difference by charging a nominal cost to thosefamilies wishing to purchase a book.

SallyThicke will request a CD from West Coast Photo, if available, of the childrens’school photos.

T-shirt/hoodiefundraiser – We will look into the possibility of purchasing clothing with theschool logo. Elaine will check with Kinnikinnick to see if they are doing asimilar program, and what their costs are. –Tabled to January.

Buildingbridges with our campus neighbours – Elaine suggested the idea that we look forways in which we can build common ground with the Gibson’s Christian School andthe Spyder program. At the moment the Gibson’s Christian School has beeninvited to  share in some of theactivities at Davis Bay, on an informal basis. It was countered that the threeschools are separate entities, merely sharing the campus space.

OldBusiness:

All School Skate – As the Christmas Break begins early this year, there were notmany suitable dates to choose from for our all school skate. Given that thechildren are already receiving skating lessons, this month, the all-schoolskate has been postponed until January. Sally Thicke will look into which dates Minutes of the Davis Bay PAC
