Minutes
In attendance: Megan, Eric, Mara, Fred
1. Fred distributed the Madeira Park Elementary School Growth Plan 2009 – 2010 and the responsibilities of the school planning council.
2. The responsibilities of the school planning council were reviewed (see below). It was determined that the SPC (school planning council) would meet throughout the year to review the school plan and monitor progress on the goals contained within the plan.
3. It was determined that minutes from the SPC would be posted on the school web site and a report would be made to the PAC (parent advisory council) at its regular meeting.
4. Discussion was held regarding the types of educational services and programs about which the SPC would provide advice to the board of education.
5. It was reiterated that the SPC does not discuss or provide advice about personal, confidential information about students, parents, teachers or staff, or complaints about individuals or personnel matters.
6. Members will review the school growth plan prior to the next meeting.
7. The next meeting will occur on Wednesday, December 02, 2009, at 8:00 am, after report cards have been issued.
The responsibilities of the school planning council are that it:
* Develops, monitors, and reviews school plans
* Maintains processes to receive input from, and report to:
· the parent advisory council, and
· the school community
* Provides advice to theschool board about:
· the allocation of staff and resources in the school,
· matters contained in the district achievement contract relating to the school, and
· education services and programs in the school
* Does not discuss or provide advice about:
· personal, confidential information about students, parents, teachers or staff, or
· complaints about individuals or personnel matters
* Maintains ways to promote effective communication between the school community and the school planning council
* Revises school plans, if requested to do so by the school board
