What is the Cedar Grove Social Development Program?
The Cedar Grove Social Development Program (CGSDP) is a program for students in early primary grades with neurological, behavioural, social, and/or emotional challenges. The CGSDP provides a very structured, predictable learning environment that integrates therapeutic intervention, social skills acquisition, conflict resolution, and problem solving into every aspect of the educational program.
Neurological, behavioural, social, and/or emotional challenges can significantly impact a child’s intellectual development. Often students require intensive support in order to make academic progress. The Cedar Grove Social Development Program recognizes the unique learning and behavioural needs of each student and instruction is provided to strengthen students’ numeracy and literacy.
The Cedar Grove Social Development Program welcomes the participation and support of School District No. 46 staff, health care providers, Child and Youth Mental Health clinicians, Family and Youth Service workers, Ministry of Child and Family Development workers, and other agencies that support children and families on the Sunshine Coast.
Enrollment in the Cedar Grove Social Development Program is limited to 6 students.
Students attend the Cedar Grove Social Development Program 4 days per week (Monday-Thursday) from 9:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Students do not attend school on Fridays. Friday is a day set aside for staff to meet with school district and community professionals as well as parents to assess student progress, plan interventions, and evaluate the program.
